MADISON, Wis. -- Edgewood College junior Josh Williams earned his second career all-region award from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association earlier this week. Williams placed 12th at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in Rock Island, Ill. last Saturday, which qualified him for this weekend's national championships.
Williams, a native of Madison and a graduate of Madison West High School, also earned all-region honors his freshman year when he placed 24th at the regional meet. Williams will be competing this weekend at the NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by UW-Oshkosh. The race for the national crown begins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.
Earlier this season, Williams won the first ever individual conference title by an Edgewood cross country runner by winning the Northern Athletics Conference championship in a time of 26:10. Two weeks later at the NCAA Regionals, Williams ran 25:18 to secure the highest finish ever by an Eagle runner in an NCAA regional race.
NCAA.com will be providing a live videocast of the race on Saturday.
