ROCKFORD, Ill. – For the third time in his coaching career, Bob Hayes has returned to the Barnes Tennis Courts on the campus of Rockford College as head tennis coach of both the men's and women's tennis programs.

"Coach Hayes brings a wealth of tennis experience and knowledge to the Regents' tennis programs," said interim athletic director Kristyn King. "In each of his stints as coach, he has developed both the program and the individual players. We look forward to Coach Hayes continuing to grow the programs on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."

Hayes' tennis coaching career started in 1979 as a summer instructor for the Rockford Park District. He first came to Rockford College in 1991 as head coach of the men's team. In 1995, he left to focus on other business opportunities. He returned in 2002, spending the next four years as head coach of both the Regents' men's and women's programs.

The Rockford College women's tennis team opens their 2010 campaign on Saturday, September 4 when they travel to Wisconsin for Northern Athletics Conference meets at MSOE and Concordia University Wisconsin.
