Marian names Jason Murphy interim athletics director

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -– Marian University President Steven R. DiSalvo has announced that Jason Murphy will serve as the institution's Interim Director of Athletics, which he will serve in addition to his duties as head women's soccer coach.

"I am honored to serve as Marian University's Interim Athletic Director," Murphy stated. "I will see to it that President DiSalvo's vision for continued success and growth in athletics is met."

Murphy, a native of Appleton, is in his second year at Marian after stints with the University of Chicago and UW-Stevens Point. While at Chicago, Murphy served two seasons assisting in all aspects of the women's soccer program from 2007-08. During his time with the program, Chicago compiled a 28-10-3 record and consistently ranked in the Top-25 nationally in NCAA Division III. The Maroons qualified for the NCAA tournament both seasons, making it as far as the round of 16 in 2008.

He earned his Master's degree in sport administration from UW-La Crosse in 2007. This followed two seasons as an assistant coach at UW-Stevens Point, where he helped lead the Pointers to a 31-8-5 overall record including back-to-back conference tournament titles and NCAA tournament appearances in 2003 and 2004.
