VERONA, Wis. -- Aurora University has been picked to win the 2007 Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship according to the coaches' preseason poll.
The Spartans look to defend their 2006 title this season, and are led by seniors Allison Sperling (Aurora, Ill.) and Brittany Butcher (St. Charles, Ill.). Both golfers finished in the top ten at last year's Northern Athletics Conference Championship.
Edgewood College is tabbed for a second place finish in the conference. All-Conference selection Kaitlyn Herzog (Waukesha, Wis.) will have some big shoes to fill as the Eagles lost NAC Player of the Year, Nicole Gluzinski, to graduation.
Wisconsin Lutheran College is picked third in the preseason poll. The Warriors finished fourth last season, but return NAC Rookie of the Year and All-NAC selection Abbie Lecy (Marshall, Minn.) to the team.
The 2007 Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship will take place at Mequon Country Club in Mequon, Wis. on October 5 and 6. The 2007-08 season will then conclude at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, May 13-16 at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa.
