Aurora repeats at Northern Athletics Conference Women's Golf Championship

MEQUON, Wis. -- Aurora University won its second consecutive Northern Athletics Championship today at Mequon Country Club in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Spartans posted scores of 394 on both days of the event for a total score of 788.

Aurora led by 36 strokes after the first day of the event, and finished with a 52 stroke advantage over runner-up Concordia University Wisconsin (430-410--840). MSOE (473-461--934) finished in third place, Marian College (490-466--956) in fourth and Wisconsin Lutheran College (504-477--981) in fifth place. Benedictine University, Edgewood College and Lakeland College did not qualify for team scores.

Aurora's Kristen Richardson (Shabbona, Ill.) claimed medalist honors with a score of 173 (+29). Richardson shot an event best 84 on day one and posted an 89 on day two. Her day one and total championship scores mark new NAC Championship records in the conference's brief history. Edgewood's Nicole Gluzinski held the previous single round (89) and championship total (182) records from her 2006 finish.

Richardson was named both Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year following the championship. Aurora University's Chad Johansen was named NAC Coach of the Year.
