RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Dominican University Department of Athletics announced on Monday that it has hired Gabby Johnson for the position of Assistant Athletics Facilities Manager/Head Women's Basketball Coach.  Johnson, a former standout point guard at Division III Thomas More College, has spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Northern Kentucky women's basketball program under legendary coach Nancy Winstel.

During Johnson's time with Northern Kentucky, the Norse posted a 39-17 overall mark and an at-large berth in the NCAA Division II National Tournament.  With the Norse, Johnson was responsible for guard development and assisted with on-floor coaching, practice planning and student-athlete recruitment.

As a collegiate basketball player, Jonson helped the Thomas More Knights to three straight NCAA Division III National Tournament appearances and earned honorable mention All-President's Athletic Conference honors twice and ranks third on the Knights' all-time assists list with 320 career assists.

Following her playing career, Johnson returned to the Knights' bench as an assistant coach for the 2009-10 season and helped Thomas More to a 26-4 mark and the program's fourth consecutive national tournament appearance.

At Dominican, Johnson inherits a Stars' program that has won back-to-back Northern Athletics Conference South Division titles, going a combined 39-16 over the last two seasons.
