MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin Lutheran College senior forward Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) became the 14th women's basketball player in school history to score at least 1,000 career points when the Warriors defeated Aurora University 83-41 on Saturday, January 28 at the Recreation Complex.
Johnson entered Saturday's game just 15 points shy of reaching the milestone. After scoring 14 first-half points, her 16th and final points of game came on a jumper at the 17:27 mark of the second half that propelled her into the record books. Johnson also finished the game with 14 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season.
Johnson, who is averaging a team-leading 12.8 points per game this season, is the sixth Warriors women's basketball player since the 2007-2008 season to surpass 1,000 career points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (16-3, 13-0 NAC) returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Lakeland College (12-6, 7-5 NAC) in a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Recreation Complex.
