Cougars' Calabrese Named Weekly Award Winner

Concordia Chicago's Cristina Calabrese has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for games of December 25-January 1.

Calabrese (Schiller Park, Ill.) came off the bench and supplied two of the top performances of her career last week at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando. She opened the week by scoring a career-high 16 points in a 68-54 loss to ranked Hope College on Wednesday where she was 3-of-9 from 3-point range.

The senior forward set a new career best less than 24 hours later in a 65-63 win over Olivet College where she scored 18 points, including a 3-pointer with 2 minutes remaining that put CUC up by four and provided the eventual winning points.

In addition to her 17.0 points per game for the Cougars (4-7, 2-4 NAC), she also averaged 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game on the week.
