ROCKFORD, Ill. -- In just 69 career games, junior guard Britney Curry (Merrillville, Ind.) has done something only nine other women's basketball players have done in the 39 years of the Rockford College women's basketball program. With 2:39 remaining in Saturday's 70-50 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College at the Seaver Center, Curry connected on a layup surpassing the career 1,000 point plateau.
The biology major has been a steadying influence on the Regents offense during her collegiate career. Curry has led the Regents in scoring in 34 of her career games, averaging 14.5 points per game for her career.
Currently, Curry ranks 10th on the school's all-time scoring list (1001) and 16th in rebounding (395). The junior also ranks among the school's top 10 in steals (#7 – 156), blocked shots (#7 - 33), and field goals made (#9 – 378). She also ranks 14th in assists with 144.
Curry was named to the 2009-10 All-Northern Athletics Conference Second Team as a sophomore and received All-NAC Honorable Mention as a freshman, when she was also named to the NAC All-Freshman Team.
