Peters tabbed as Marian's women's basketball coach

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Marian University announced the hiring of Bill Peters as the new women's basketball head coach. Peters becomes Marian's 11th women's basketball head coach and will begin duties immediately.

"I'm very excited and honored to be the head women's basketball coach at Marian University," stated Peters. "I have been around the sport of basketball my entire life and look forward to the challenge. I embrace the opportunity to coach at my alma mater and I believe this will help me be successful."

Peters, a Reedsville native and 1996 graduate of Marian University (formerly College), comes with fifteen years of coaching experience, including serving as the women's basketball head coach at Ripon High School for the last seven years. Peters guided the Tigers to three straight conference titles from 2005-2008, including three state sectional appearances. During those three seasons, Ripon finished with a combined record of 61-10.

"We are thrilled to announce Bill as our women's basketball coach," stated Director of Athletics Doug Hammonds. "We are excited to watch Bill continue his development as coach of our women's program at Marian University. We are confident that he will combine his coaching experiences and knowledge of the University to build a successful program that alumni and student-athletes will be proud of."

Peters played under current men's basketball head coach Mark Boyle from 1991-1994 and was also a four-year standout on the men's golf team. Peters has also worked the last fourteen years as a Golf Club Professional at the Golf Courses of Lawsonia, Tuscumbia Country Club, and Whispering Springs Golf Course.

Bill and his wife Renee reside in Green Lake, Wisconsin with their two children, Carley and Cal.
