Neils steps down as Edgewood College women’s basketball coach
MADISON, Wis. -- Tola Neils has announced her resignation as Edgewood College’s head women’s basketball coach, effective immediately. Neils compiled a 51-30 record in three seasons at the helm, including a 40-14 record in the Northern Athletics Conference.

Duckworth, Kontowski complete Italian all-star tour with championship
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Alverno College Basketball Coach Brad Duckworth, along with sophomore standout Alicia Kontowski (South Milwaukee, Wis.), represented the United States on a 10 day, four game tour of Italy. The all-star team, consisting of players from across the United States, was organized by American Sports Tours International.

Scheele named D3Hoops.com All-American
MADISON, Wis. -- After being named an All-American by the nation’s coaches, Megan Scheele has now been honored as an All-American by D3Hoops.com, the country’s top media outlet for Division III basketball. Scheele was named to the five-member first team, creating a sweep of NCAA Division III’s two major All-American awards.

Edgewood College's Scheele named NCAA Division III All-American
MADISON, Wis. -- She's collected a closet full of awards in her four years at Edgewood College, but this time she wins an honor no other Edgewood College women’s basketball player has ever earned. Senior Megan Scheele was named to the NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-American team, representing the 10 best players in the country. The team is selected annually by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Marche Smith earns second straight D3Hoops.com honor
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Add another honor to the growing list of accomplishments for Concordia University Chicago’s Marche Smith (Oak Park, Ill. – Trinity H.S.). D3hoops.com has named the sophomore guard to its first-team Women’s All-Central Region team. Smith was the organization’s Central Region Rookie of the Year in 2008.

Edgewood College's Scheele earns third straight All-Region award
MADISON, Wis. -- D3Hoops.com has named Edgewood College women’s basketball player Megan Scheele to the All-Central Region first team for the third consecutive season. Scheele, a native of New Glarus, is the two-time Northern Athletics Conference player of the year and was second in the nation in scoring at 22.2 points per game.

Scheele, a finalist for First Team All-America
MADISON, Wis. -- Her season may be over with, but Edgewood College forward Megan Scheele continues to add to her accolades. The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today its finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team. Scheele is among 42 finalists from eight different regions in NCAA Division III vying for a chance to be selected to the 10-member State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team.

CUW women to face Concordia-Moorhead in NCAA first round
MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin's first round matchup has a familiar ring to it. Concordia College-Moorhead will provide the opposition as they square off against the Falcons at on Friday 5pm at Berg Gymnasium in Stevens Point, Wis. The winner will advance to the regional final on Saturday at 7:00pm against either UW-Stevens Point or Maryville (Mo.).

Edgewood College's Scheele a Jostens Trophy finalist for second straight year
MADISON, Wis. -- Two days, two major honors for Edgewood College’s Megan Scheele and this one she receives for the second time. Just a day after being named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American® First Team, Scheele was named a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy, presented to the NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball players of the year.

Moody reaches milestone
FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- In Saturday's 60-46 loss to Lakeland College, Coleen Moody (Mt. Calvary, Wis.) became just the tenth player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark in her career. Moody needed 17 points going into the contest and finished with 18. The junior reached the mark with just :58 remaining as she converted a pair of free throws.

Scheele hits 2,000/1,000 on the same night
WATERTOWN, Wis. - Edgewood College senior Megan Scheele likely achieved an unprecedented double milestone on Thursday night, when she eclipsed 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds in the same game. Scheele tallied 21 points and 13 rebounds in the Eagles 65-47 victory over Maranatha Baptist.

MADISON, Wis. -- For the second consecutive season Edgewood College women’s basketball player Megan Scheele has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women’s basketball team. Scheele, a native of New Glarus, was a first team selection in the College Division of District V making her eligible for Academic All-American voting later this month.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Wisconsin Lutheran College senior guard Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) became the 11th player in WLC women’s basketball history to score 1,000 career points in the Warriors’ 68-56 loss at Aurora University 68-56 on Tuesday, January 13.

MADISON, Wis. -- Edgewood College women’s basketball senior Megan Scheele has been named a preseason All-American by D3Hoops.com. Scheele, the returning Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year, was named to the second team, placing her among the top 10 NCAA Division III players in the nation.

Regents hoops names new coach
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Rockford College Athletic Director Randy Schrader recently named Jessica Stanek as new Regents' head women's basketball coach. Stanek replaces Steve Cochran, who resigned to take another position. As the 12th head coach in the 36-year history of the program, Stanek takes over a program that finished 15-10 during the 2007-08 campaign.

CUW tops WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll, Lakeland College ranks 23rd
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its winners for the 2007-08 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll last week. Two Northern Athletics Conference teams were ranked in the Top 25. Concordia University Wisconsin was the top team in NCAA Division III with a team grade point average of 3.637, while Lakeland College ranked 23rd with a team GPA of 3.379.
