Scheele leads nation in scoring

MADISON, Wis. -- Junior forward Megan Scheele has continued to climb the national rankings and is now the nation's leading scorer in NCAA Division III. Additionally, Scheele is ranked sixth nationally in field-goal percentage.

Scheele is currently averaging 24.6 points per game through 11 games and is one of only two players in the nation averaging more than 23 points a game. Scheele is shooting 61.8 percent from the field good for sixth nationally. Among the top 25 nationally in shooting percentage, Scheele has the most attempts (178) out of everyone ranked and has over 100 more attempts than the national leader Ashley Stanfill of Westminster (Mo.) who is shooting 72.6 percent on only 73 attempts.

It is no surprise the Scheele is among the nation's best as she has recorded seven double-doubles this season, including a current streak of five straight. She has been the leading scorer for the Eagle's in their last 12 games, dating back to last season. Scheele will try and continue to climb the national rankings tonight as Edgewood College (6-5) hosts Loras College (11-1) at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, two of the nation's top scorers collide when Edgewood College will host Benedictine University and Tamika Curtis. Curtis is second in the NAC and 16th in the nation in scoring at 20.4 points per game. Game time is 2 p.m. and both games will be webcast live on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
