Crusader women down Southwestern at NCCAA National

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Maranatha Baptist Bible College women's basketball team dominated the Southwestern University women's team in the play-in game of the 2007 National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament in Lakeland, FL. The Crusader women were seeded No. 7 in the tournament, while SWU was seeded in the No. 10 spot.

Amber Lang led the Crusader charge with 20 points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals. Nicole Hawkins pumped in 13 points for the Crusaders while Amanda Moses tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rose Peterson dropped in nine points while collecting 14 rebounds and Colleen Goff added seven points and 13 rebounds. Natalie Hawkins and Kristin Kincaid each added four points while Janine Thurmond chipped in two points to round out the scoring for MBBC.

Maranatha advances to the eight team championship bracket, with their next game against the 2006 National Champions, Mid-America University. MAU is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will be a formidable foe for the Crusaders.
