ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Rockford College recently announced that it has hired Steve Cochran as its new head women’s basketball coach. Cochran comes to the Regents from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO, where he was an assistant coach.

AURORA, Ill. -- One week after being named D3hoops.com First-Team All-Central Region, Aurora University’s Naomi Guise became the first AU women’s basketball player to be named a D3hoops.com All-American in the 10 seasons of the teams being named.

Benedictine’s Curtis an All-America honorable mention in women’s hoops
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University women’s basketball standout Tamika Curtis (Bellwood, Ill./Nazareth Academy) has been named as an All-America Honorable Mention for the 2006-07 NCAA Division III Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team, it was announced today by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Curtis is Benedictine’s first-ever player to be honored by the WBCA.

Benedictine’s Curtis an All-America finalist for women’s hoops
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University women’s basketball standout Tamika Curtis (Bellwood, Ill./Nazareth Academy) has been named as one of 40 finalists for the NCAA Division III Kodak/WBCA All-America Basketball Team, it was announced today by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Curtis was named as one of the top five players in Region 7 (among schools from Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri) in advancing to consideration for the 10-member first team Kodak/WBCA All-America Team, which will be announced on Thursday, March 15.

The Crusader women were seeded No. 7 in the tournament, while SWU was seeded in the No. 10 spot.

MSOE women’s basketball standout a Jostens Trophy finalist
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- MSOE women’s basketball player Catherine Chappell is one of ten women finalists in the country for the prestigious Jostens Trophy – the first from MSOE. The national award was created by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va., to honor the most outstanding men and women’s Division III basketball players of the year. The award takes into account basketball ability, academic prowess and community service. The trophy models the Rotary motto of “service above self” by recognizing those who truly fit the ideal of the well-rounded DIII student-athlete.

NAC teams selected for NCAA Division III Basketball Championships
VERONA, Wis. -- The Aurora University men's basketball team and Concordia University Wisconsin women's basketball team have been selected to compete in the 2007 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. The NCAA national committees announced the field of 59 men's and 63 women's teams this evening.

Laete reaches 1,000 career points
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Junior forward Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) became the ninth player in Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s basketball history to reach 1,000 career points as the Warriors doused the Alverno College Inferno 84-48 on Wednesday night at the Recreation Complex.

Atoi Sinclair tops thousand points for career
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Atoi Sinclair (Milwaukee, WI – Lutheran H.S.) became the fifth women’s basketball player in the history of Concordia University Chicago to reach the 1,000 point mark for her career in a Dec. 29 contest against McMurry (TX) University. Sinclair joins Amy Gibson (1,243), Tammie (Dunker) Driver (1,172), Laura Kohrs (1,137) and Kim Schumacher (1,071) as the only Cougar women to achieve this feat.

Edgewood stuns nationally ranked Carroll
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- Senior Jordane Kittoe (Potosi, Wis.) scored the game winner with 2.3 seconds remaining in regulation and sophomore Megan Scheele (New Glarus, Wis.) poured in a school record 38 points Friday as Edgewood College hung on to a 66-64 victory in its season opener at Carroll College.

Concordia Wisconsin picked to win inaugural NAC women's basketball title
VERONA, Wis. -- The Concordia University Wisconsin women's basketball team has been selected to win the Northern Athletics Conference title according to the preseason coaches' poll. Lakeland College has been picked second and Aurora University third.

Rockford alum Aaron Nester named new women's basketball head coach
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Rockford College recently named Aaron Nester as the tenth head coach in the 24-year history of the women's basketball program. Nester, a 2004 graduate of Rockford College, spent the last four years at Rockford as an assistant to former head coach Bob Amsberry. Nester takes over a program steeped in recent success, including three consecutive NIIC conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances in 2003, 2005, and 2006.

Dominican University tabs Litton for women's basketball job
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Ana Litton has been named the new Head Women's Basketball Coach at Dominican University. Litton, a lifelong student of the game, comes to Dominican University with over ten years of coaching experience, including a four-year stop as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College where Litton helped guide the Yellow Jackets to four 20-plus win seasons.

Neils named new women's basketball coach at Edgewood College
MADISON, Wis. -- Tola Neils has been named the next head women's basketball coach at Edgewood College, school officials announced today. Neils, the daughter of former Madison La Follette High School boys basketball coach Peter Olson, spent five years as the head coach at Preble High School in Green Bay, Wis., which included a trip to the 2003 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Division I Girls Basketball Championships.
