Jansen's Walk-Off Grand Slam, Pondo's Perfect Game Earn Weekly Awards

Marian's Emilie Jansen and Benedictine's Eryn Pondo were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of April 2-8.

Jansen (Kaukauna, Wis.) batted .600 (9-for-15) with three home runs, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored for the Sabres (11-11, 6-2 NAC) last week. The junior second baseman blasted a walk-off grand slam which broke a 7-7 tie with two outs in the bottom of the seventh versus Concordia Wisconsin last Tuesday. She recorded a hit in all four games last week, including multi-hit efforts in the final three contests.

Pondo (Bolingbrook, Ill.) pitched a perfect game in the Eagles' (14-8, 7-1 NAC) victory over Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday. The rookie hurler recorded five strikeouts in the five-inning win. Earlier in the week she scattered three hits in a shutout victory over MSOE with five Ks.
