Eagles Sweep Softball Weekly Awards

Edgewood's Jessica Spitzer and Brittany Andrews were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of March 12-18.

Spitzer (Burlington, Wis.) led the Eagles (7-7) with a .500 batting average last week in Arizona. Her best game of the week came in a 6-3 win over Dickinson where she went 4-for-4 with four RBIs. In eight games last week, four were multiple hit games for the junior shortstop. Spitzer blasted two home runs and drove in 12 runs total on the week.

Andrews (Rockford, Ill.) tossed her first complete game of the season when she defeated Sul Ross State, 10-2, last Monday. In the game she only allowed two runs, one earned. The Eagles won all four games in which Andrews appeared in with the senior earning three of those wins. She earned her final win in relief, going four and two-thirds innings against Dubuque. She only gave up three runs as the Eagles took a 10-8 comeback victory. For the week she posted a 3.17 earned run average in 17 and two-thirds innings of work.
