Alverno's Stef Wilmore and Dominican's Jori Cicale were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Softball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of March 5-11.
Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind.) led the Inferno (3-5) with a .533 batting average, which included a pair of home runs, two doubles and seven RBIs in four games. She is now tied atop the Alverno record book for most career home runs. Wilmore hit successfully in all four games, three of which were multiple-hit and RBI games, and also led the team with a 1.067 slugging percentage. Defensively the junior was perfect in 18 chances, getting time at both catcher and shortstop, and caught two base runners stealing as backstop.
Cicale (Steger, Ill.) went 4-0 in the circle last week for the Stars (7-5). The senior right-hander began the week with a complete game victory over WPI, where she gave up just four hits a two runs in seven innings pitched. She finished the week by throwing 5.1 innings of no-hit ball in a 7-3 victory over RIT. Cicale recorded 14 strikeouts and just two walks in 17.1 innings pitched with a 1.62 ERA on the week.
