Alverno softball players to represent USA overseas in Jourds Cup
MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College softball standouts Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) and Bre Hart (Racine, Wis./Park) will represent the USA in the Jourds Cup, playing a series of games overseas in Prague and Vienna.

Curtis appointed as head softball coach at WLC
MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin Lutheran College Director of Athletics Skip Noon announced Tuesday that Bill Curtis has been named the head softball coach at WLC. Curtis, the ninth head coach in program history, takes over for Rachel Kuehl who stepped down May 2 after piloting the program for the past 10 seasons. Curtis will also serve in the college’s Institutional Advancement office.

Budz named to Capital One Academic All-America Softball Team
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Softball Teams were released on Thursday morning with Dominican University's Sarah Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) landing on the College Division Second Team.

Dominican's Budz named NFCA All-American
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-American Teams on Friday, with Dominican University’s Sarah Budz (Orland Park, Ill.) landing on the Third Team. Budz becomes the first softball All-American in University history.

NAC teams land 10 on NFCA All-Region
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Region awards were recently announced by the Association, and Northern Athletics Conference teams landed 10 student-athletes on the All-Great Lakes Region teams.

Benedictine softball to face host Central in NCAA tournament
LISLE, Ill. -- At the Coal Ben on Monday morning, the Benedictine University softball team learned its NCAA postseason fate in the form of Central College in Pella, Iowa. The Eagles join seven other teams in the eight-team, double-elimination regional which will be held Thursday through Monday at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex field.

NAC student-athletes garner Academic All-District honors
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom, and five student-athletes represented the Northern Athletics Conference.

Benedictine takes NAC tournament title in extra innings
MILWAUKEE -- After defeating Aurora 4-1 in the semifinal round of the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Softball Tournament, the Benedictine Eagles downed the Spartans, 2-1, in a nine-inning championship game at Alverno Field to earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III Softball Championship Tournament.

MILWAUKEE -- After a pair of upsets on day one, day two of the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Softball Tournament was all favorites as the top three seeds are all that remain in the six-team double-elimination event at Alverno Field.

Cougars and Muskies pull opening-round upsets
MILWAUKEE -- The lowest-seeded teams in the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Softball Tournament pulled a pair of upsets, and did so in convincing fashion. Fifth-seeded Lakeland defeated fourth-seeded Dominican 13-3 while sixth-seeded Concordia Chicago upended third-seeded Concordia Chicago 14-8 in the opening round of the tourney today at Alverno Field.

All-NAC Softball awards announced
MILWAUKEE -- Dominican's Sarah Budz and Benedictine's Brittany Adcox and were named the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and headlined the All-NAC softball awards for the 2011 season, the conference office announced.

2011 NAC Softball Tournament Preview
MILWAUKEE -- The bracket is out for the 2011 Northern Athletics Conference Softball Tournament, where the league's top six teams will compete for the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. Games will be played May 5-7 on Alverno Field at Alverno College in Milwaukee.
