Sprinters Set School Records, Collect Weekly Awards

Rockford's Jacob Arnold and Wisconsin Lutheran's Zakkiyya Jones were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of April 23-29.

Arnold (Plainfield, Ill.) broke the Rockford College record in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes at the Benedictine Twilight Invitational on Friday. In the 100-meter, the sophomore finished tied for first with a time of 10.82 seconds, which is also the top time in the conference this year. In the 200-meter Arnold finished ninth, which set the school record with a time of 22.66 seconds.

Jones (Milwaukee, Wis.) placed first in the 100-meter dash and set a school record in the 200-meter dash on Sunday at the Wisconsin Private College Championships. The freshman sprinter ran a 12.97 in the 100-meter dash and followed that up with a runner-up finish and school-record time of 26.85 in the 200.
