Concordia Chicago's Merrell Davis and Wisconsin Lutheran's Amanda Markham were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of April 16-22.
Davis (Milwaukee, Wis.) had a winning long jump of 24-4.25 (7.42 meters) at the April 20 CUC Cougar Invitational put him at the top among all NCAA Division III men's track athletes this season. His mark is a new NAC record and also broke CUC's school record (23-10) that had been in place since 1932.
The junior also won the 200-meter dash (22.02 seconds) and placed second in triple jump (44-1.5) for an all-time personal best. Davis accounted for 28 team points in helping CUC finish third.
Markham (Oostburg, Wis.) had a strong showing on Saturday at the St. Norbert Invitational. The freshman broke two school records en route to two first place finishes. Markham won the 100-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 15.52 -- also a new NAC record -- and followed that with a win in the 400-meter hurdles, completing that race in 67.59.
