Cougars' School-Record Marks Tab Weekly Awards

Concordia Chicago's Jamal Thomas and Alex Schmidt were named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for events of April 2-8.

Thomas (Weirsdale, Fla.) potentially qualified for two events at the NCAA III outdoor championships with a pair of first-place finishes at the Chicagoland Championships last weekend. The junior won the triple jump with a school-record 14.10 meters which is currently 14th in the nation. His winning mark of 7.00 meters in the long jump puts him 18th in the nation.

Schmidt (Frankenmuth, Mich.) broke Concordia Chicago's 10k record at the Chicagoland Championships with a sixth-place finish. Her time of 37:48.34 broke the old school record from 1983 by over 2 minutes and is currently 18th nationally.
