Aurora Takes Both Team Titles At NAC Indoor Championships
SOMERS, Wis. -- Aurora won both the men's and women's titles at the 2013 Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships today at Petretti Fieldhouse.
The Spartans won the men's championship with a team score of 126, followed by MSOE (120), Benedictine (118.5), Concordia Wisconsin (101), Edgewood (57), Wisconsin Lutheran (50.5), Concordia Chicago (35), Rockford (12) and Lakeland (0).
Edgewood's Josh Williams took home the Athlete of the Meet and Track Athlete of the Meet awards after winning the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter runs, and was part of the Eagles' first-place distance medley relay team.
Concordia Wisconsin's Tyler White was honored with the Field Athlete of the award as the rookie won the long jump and was runner-up in the triple jump. White shared the Freshman of the Meet award with Benedictine's Omar Lopez and Aurora's Nick Williams.
Aurora won the women's championship with a team score of 226, followed by Wisconsin Lutheran (109), Concordia Chicago (99), Benedictine (69), Concordia Wisconsin (50), Edgewood (38), MSOE (15), Rockford (8) and Lakeland (3).
Wisconsin Lutheran's Mary Erickson won both the Athlete of the Meet and Track Athlete of the Meet awards as she took first in the 800-meter run, mile run and 3,000-meter run.
Aurora's Elise Hinson was awarded both the Field Athlete of the Meet and Freshman of the Meet awards with a runner-up finishes in the 55-meter hurdles and triple jump, a third-place finished in the shot put and a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
Ryan Champman was voted as both the men's and women's Coach of the Meet by his peers after leading both Spartan teams to the titles.
