DES MOINES, Iowa -- Edgewood College track athlete Josh Williams
will compete against some of the nation's best young runners
tonight at the USA Track & Field Junior Nationals in Des
Moines, Iowa. Williams is entered in the 5,000 meter run which will
be broadcast live on the web at 8 p.m.
This won't be Williams first test on a national stage. In
February, Williams ran at the USA Cross Country Championships in
Spokane, Washington. Last fall, the Madison native became the first
Edgewood College cross country runner to compete in the NCAA
Division III National Cross Country Championships.
Williams, who will be a sophomore at Edgewood College next fall,
won the 5,000 meter title at the Northern Athletics Conference
Outdoor Championships, on the heals of winning both the mile and
the 3,000 meter run at the NAC Indoor Championship. Williams
currently holds Edgewood College records in four events (1,500
meters, mile run, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters).
Williams' race begins at 8:00 p.m. at Drake Stadium, home of the
prestigious Drake Relays. The 5,000 meters and all other events are
being webcast live on the USA Track and Field website.
