Mendoza's 1st Victory Earns Weekly Accolade
Edgewood's Edwin Mendoza has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for events of February 6-12.
Mendoza's (Rockford, Ill.) first-career win clinched the Eagles' (1-5 overall) first dual match victory of the season.
With the dual match tied, 4-4, the rookie defeated his opponent from Martin Luther (6-1, 7-5) in the No. 4 singles slot to secure the 5-4 win for the Eagles.
Earlier in the day, Mendoza and partner Eric Gavinski won their first-career doubles match, 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.
