RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago announced the resignation of Bob Hegner as the men's tennis head coach.

Hegner completed his fourth season with the Cougars this past weekend at the Northern Athletics Conference Individual Championships. Three of his players were honored as all-conference athletes – Jeff Smith in singles and Thien Van and Nathan Wingfield in doubles.

Hegner led the Cougars to an 8-6 overall record and a 7-2 third-place finish in conference play; the latter is the program's best in the NAC's five-year history. His overall record with the Cougars was 25-23 while the team's conference record was 20-12.

"We would like to thank Bob for his efforts for the past four years and the time and commitment he made to our men's tennis program," said Pete Gnan, Concordia director of athletics. "We wish him all the best."

A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
