Keener's First Double-Double Earns Weekly Award
Dominican's Anthony Keener has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for events of Jan. 14-20, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Keener (Carol Stream, Ill.) posted his first double-double as the Stars' topped Rockford, 65-62, last Tuesday. The sophomore guard dropped in a game-high 25 points and pulled down a season-best 12 rebounds in the win. Keener shot 6-for-10 from the field, including a season-best 5-for-6 from 3-point distance.
Keener followed that performance with 14 points, six rebounds and four assists as Dominican (8-10, 6-4 NAC) won a cross-divisional meeting with Concordia Wisconsin, 67-59, to pick up a season-best fourth-straight victory.
This is Keener's second weekly award of the season, as he received the same honor just two weeks ago.
Other nominations: Taylor Rawlings, Concordia Chicago; Mark Pace, Concordia Wisconsin; Brett Meinecke, Edgewood; Justin Ward, Lakeland; Joel Borchardt, Maranatha; Sam Koslowski, Marian; Victor Bande, MSOE; Julion Griffin, Wisconsin Lutheran.
