Edgewood Heads To UW-River Falls For 1st Round Game

The NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Committee announced Monday the field of 62 teams for the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship including the bracket and locations. Northern Athletics Conference champion Edgewood College will travel to play host University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a first-round game on Friday at 8 p.m. at the Karges Center in River Falls, Wis.

Edgewood (22-6) and UW-River Falls (20-7) both earned a spot in the tournament by winning their respective conference tournaments -- Edgewood the NAC, and River Falls the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference -- for each leagues' automatic bid.

Edgewood is making its third appearance in the NCAA III Championship Tournament and first since 2005, while River Falls enters its second-straight tournament and second overall. The Eagles and Falcons are 2-2 all-time, and the Eagles' first-ever win over a Wisconsin state school was over the Falcons.

On Friday at 5:30 p.m., Gustavus Adolphus College (20-7) will play Wheaton College (Ill.) (21-6). Both teams earned at-large berths into the tourney. Friday's two winners will play at 7 p.m., on Saturday.
