Van Ess named to CoSIDA Academic All-District 2008 Men's Basketball Team

FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- Senior Jordan Van Ess (Oostburg, WI) was recently honored for his efforts on the basketball court and in the classroom. Van Ess was named to the First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District 2008 Men's Basketball Team. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average for his/her career. Van Ess is now eligible for the National CoSIDA Academic Team.
On the court, Van Ess is leading the team points (13.3 ppg), minutes (30.1 mpg) and blocks (23). He is currently second on the team in rebounding (5.1 rpg). Jordan has been an honorable mention selection in the conference two of the last three seasons. In Marian's 91-63 victory on February 2, Van Ess became the 13th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000th-point plateau.
In the classroom, the Elementary and Middle School Education major/Athletic Coaching minor, has been on the Dean's List all seven of his semesters at Marian College.
Van Ess and the Sabres are currently 11-7 overall and 8-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference. They are currently in second place in the NAC.
