MILWAUKEE -- First-year Wisconsin Lutheran College head football coach Ben Murphy has announced that Erich Janousky has been named the offensive coordinator for the Warriors. Janousky is the first coaching hire on Murphy's staff.

"I've always admired what Ben has done when he coached on the defensive side of the ball," said Janousky. "I was attracted to the fact that his team plays very sound fundamentally, and never beat themselves. I also was impressed with the people on campus. There's a lot of excitement in the direction we're heading."

Janousky comes to Wisconsin Lutheran after previously serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at two-time defending Northern Athletics Conference champion Concordia University Chicago for seven seasons (2006-2012). Janousky directed the Cougars to the top offense in the NAC for the past four seasons (2009-2012), including three seasons where CUC ranked in the top 14 nationally in total offense. His 2010 unit averaged 499.7 yards and 49.2 points per game, good for sixth in NCAA Division III. Since the 2008 season, the Cougars have averaged 437.2 yards and 34.6 points per game. While at CUC, Janousky coached 46 offensive players to all-conference recognition, including three NAC Offensive Player of the Year recipients.

Before arriving at the suburban Chicago school, Janousky coached in the high school ranks for a combined eight seasons at Milwaukee Lutheran High School (2001-2005) and St. John Lutheran High School (1999-2001) in Ocala, Fla. Janousky produced four all-conference quarterbacks, two conference players of the year, and three NFL players during that time. He orchestrated the state's top offense in 2004 (320 yards per game), and was named the 2005 North Shore Conference Assistant Coach of the Year. Janousky, who was also a business education teacher at MLHS, assisted the Red Knights to their first two playoff appearances in school history (2005, 2002). His offenses averaged 402 yards per game during his five years at the school.

"I am very excited about adding Erich to our coaching staff," said Murphy. "He comes in with a lot of experience and success, and an offensive system that I wanted to utilize as head coach. Our players are extremely excited and we can't wait to get to work."

Janousky graduated from the University of Florida in 1999 with a bachelor of arts in business management.

A native of Ocala, Fla., Janousky was born September 1, 1973. He resides today in Milwaukee.
