Concordia Chicago To Host Bethel In NCAA First Round

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Concordia University Chicago will play host to Bethel University of St. Paul, Minn., in first-round action of the 2012 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs. The game will be played at Concordia Stadium in River Forest, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 17 with kickoff at noon.

The Concordia Cougars won the Northern Athletics Conference's automatic bid to the playoffs with a 7-0 record in NAC play. Concordia's 62-26 win on Saturday over Maranatha Baptist Bible College enabled the Cougars to wrap up a perfect 10-0 season, the team's third undefeated and untied season in his 90-year history and first since 1937. Lonnie Pries, a 1993 alumnus, is in his seventh season as head coach and has a record of 42-28.

The Bethel Royals received a Pool C (at-large) bid to this year's playoffs. Bethel finished with an 8-2 overall record and 6-2 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Steve Johnson is in his 24th season as head coach and has led the Royals to 172 wins.
