Aurora, CUC and Rockford players earn weekly football honors

Aurora's Kevin Glock, Concordia Chicago's Jake Koehler and Rockford's Anthony Beres were honored as the Northern Athletics Conference Football Student-Athletes of the Week for games played September 5-11.

Glock (North Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) had a tremendous day for the Spartans (1-1 overall) in their 56-0 dominant victory over MacMurray on Saturday. The senior defensive back was involved in four of the six turnovers caused by the AU defense, as he intercepted two passes and recovered two fumbles.

Koehler Koehler (Belvidere, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) made the most of his first collegiate start at quarterback for the Cougars (1-0). The junior passed for 285 yards and four touchdowns (no interceptions) to lead CUC over the University of Chicago 28-10 on Saturday, avenging last year's 56-24 loss to Maroons.

Beres Beres (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) had excellent game both punting and kicking for the Regents (0-2) on Saturday. The senior was 1-for-1 on field goal attempts and 2-for-2 on PATs. Beres punted the ball six times for a net of 42.5 yards per punt, as well as a long of 58 yards. He also had three punts inside the 20-yard line including one that was downed at the 2-yard line. In the middle of the second quarter, Beres completed a 16-yard pass on a fake punt to give the Regents a first down on a drive that eventually resulted in points for Rockford.
