Van Asdlen Named To NCAA III Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team

Aurora University senior first baseman Brett Van Asdlen (Minooka, Ill./Minooka H.S.) continued his string of gathering lofty recognition by being named to the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team.

In four games at the 2012 Midwest regional, Van Asdlen led AU to a 2-2 record and a fourth-place finish in the eight-team regional. Van Asdlen hit .375 with three runs batted in and three runs scored. Defensively, Van Asdlen had 48 putouts and one assist.

On the season, Van Asdlen finished with a .375 average with 11 doubles, seven home runs, 30 walks, 51 runs scored, 60 runs batted in and 3-of-4 in stolen bases.

The AU baseball team finished the 2012 season by tying a school record with a 38-10 overall record. With an 18-4 Northern Athletics Conference record, AU captured the 2012 NAC Championship, the school's first in the NAC in baseball and 21st in program history, as well as won the NAC Tournament title and made the program's 20th appearance in the NCAA tournament.
