Rockford's Jimmy Dercks and Aurora's Eric Palmer were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of April 9-15.
Dercks (Kaukauna, Wis.) led the Regents' (13-13, 9-3 NAC) offense as the team went 6-1 on the week. The senior shortstop hit .586 and slugged .966 with 17 hits, including a pair of four-hit games and a pair of three-hit games. Dercks blasted eight doubles and a home run with 13 RBIs. As the Regents' lead-off hitter, he was walked three times and struck out only once. Defensively he gloved a .952 fielding percentage in the seven games.
Palmer (Melrose Park, Ill.) remained unbeaten in his rookie campaign, as he went 2-0 on the week with a 0.60 ERA for the Spartans (21-6, 9-3 NAC). He allowed just two runs (one earned) in a victory over Edgewood on Monday and followed it up with a complete-game shutout versus Concordia Chicago on Sunday as he allowed just three hits in the contest. In 15 innings pitched on the week, Palmer allowed 12 hits, struck out 12, walked just one, and allowed two runs (one earned).
