Concordia Chicago's Cam Stephens and Marian's Jesse Blum were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of March 12-18.
Stephens (Rosemont, Ill.) helped the 22nd-ranked (ABCA Poll) Cougars (9-2) to a 2-1 mark over the weekend at the Rose-Hulman Invitational Tournament. The senior designated hitter had multiple hits in each of the three games for a .667 batting average. His eight hits knocked in three runs and he did not strike out nor hit into any double plays in the tournament.
Blum (Marion, Wis.) retired 12-straight batters from the third inning on and recorded his first win of the season over Wesleyan last Friday. The senior right-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing just one run on five hits, while striking out five and walking one in his only appearance of the week for the Sabres (3-5).
