Spartans Earn Weekly Baseball Awards Sweep

Aurora's Cory Walden and Brad Warnecke were named the Northern Athletics Conference Position Player and Pitching Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week for games of March 5-11.

Walden (Aurora, Ill.) batted .500 on 12 hits with four home runs, a pair of doubles, 12 RBIs and six runs scored in seven games as the Spartans went 5-2 on the week. The junior designated hitter's week was highlighted in an 8-1 victory over Beloit where his two hits were homers and he knocked in five runs.

Warnecke (Aurora, Ill.) went 2-0 on the week for the Spartans (7-3) in two appearances. The sophomore hurler allowed just five hits and two runs (neither earned) in 12 innings pitched as he struck out 14 batters and walked just five.
