Edgewood's Steinhorst named to
at-large CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District team
MADISON, Wis.
-- Edgewood College women’s tennis student-athlete Kelsey Steinhorst
became the seventh Eagle this year to earn ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District honors. Steinhorst was named Second Team
Academic All-District V in the at-large category which includes all
sports not served by their own Academic All-District/All-American
teams.
Steinhorst, a native of Baraboo, has played No. 1 singles for the
last two seasons, leading Edgewood College to back-to-back Northern
Athletics Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
Her 58 singles wins and 68 doubles wins are both Edgewood College
school records.
Steinhorst graduated from Edgewood College last December with a 3.94
grade point average in Biology. She has been accepted into graduate
school at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Steinhorst
was also Edgewood College’s nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year
award.
The seven Eagles named Academic All-District in 2009-10 establishes
a new Edgewood College record. The Eagles had four honorees in
2004-05 and again in 2008-09, but had never achieved five or more in
a single academic year until now.
