NAC weekly awards announced
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the conference's Student-Athlete of the Week awards. The awards include events taking place from Monday, Mar. 22, to Sunday, Mar. 28.

Baseball (Pitcher)
Steve Salazar, Aurora University

...6-2...Senior...RHP...Carol Stream, Ill. (Glenbard West)...
Salazar led AU to a 2-0 win over 12th-ranked Carthage College on Saturday afternoon. The right-hander allowed one hit and only three base runners in the contest while striking out six in a complete game shutout.

Other nominees: Jake Thompson (Benedictine), Micah Buss (Concordia Chicago), Austin Backhaus (Wisconsin Lutheran).

Baseball (Position)
Josh Zenawick, Benedictine University

...6-0...Junior...OF...Orland Park, Ill. (Marist)...
Zenawick posted a hit and an RBI in every game during the week and helped Benedictine to a 2-2 week by hitting .462. He belted the first Benedictine homer of the season in a 3-1 victory over Robert Morris-Chicago last Wednesday where he was 2-for-3 in the contest. He scored three runs in a 13-5 upset win over No. 12 Carthage College and was 2-for-2 in the game.

Softball (Pitcher)
Brittany Adcox, Benedictine University

...5-9...Freshman...RHP...Plainfield, Ill. (Central)...
Adcox hurled a shutout in her lone start of the week, blanking Wheaton College (Ill.) 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader. She carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and allowed just three hits in the contest, striking out nine.

Softball (Position)
Katie Sloan, Wisconsin Lutheran College

...5-7...Junior...SS...Omaha, Neb. (Nebraska Lutheran)...
Sloan went a combined 5-for-7 (.714) with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in a doubleheader split with Carroll University last Friday.

Other nominees: Natalie Petrie (Alverno), Laura Christensen (Benedictine), Samantha Skubal (Dominican), Jessica Spitzer (Edgewood).

Men's Tennis
Juan Montenegro, MSOE

...5-3...Sophomore...San Jose, Costa Rica (Calasanz)...
Montenegro won at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles as MSOE defeated Carroll University 5-4 Sunday night.

Men's Outdoor Track and Field

The defending national champion had the nation's second best throw to date this season and provisionally qualified for the NCAA finals at the WLC Invite on Saturday with his throw of 62.61 meters in the javelin.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field
Cecilee Rodenkirch, Wisconsin Lutheran College

...5-6...Freshman...Campbellsport, Wis. (Campbellsport)...
Rodenkirch broke the school-record in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters (4’11”) for third place on Saturday at the Warrior Invitational. She also finished third in the long and the triple jumps with distances of 4.72 meters (15’6”) and 9.88 meters (32’5”), respectively.
