Gifford named D3hoops.com Central Region Rookie of the Year
AURORA, Ill. -- D3hoops.com announced the 2009-2010 women’s basketball postseason All-Region awards. Aurora University Spartan freshman guard Becky Gifford (Madison, Wis./Edgewood H.S.) was named the 2010 D3hoops.com Women’s Basketball Central Region Rookie of the Year.

The postseason honor for Gifford adds to her awards list in her first season at AU. She was named the 2010 Northern Athletics Conference Freshman of the Year as well as Second-Team All-Conference and NAC All-Freshman Team when the NAC announced its postseason awards on March 4.

On the 2009-2010 season, Gifford averaged a team-high 15.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. She shot 43.2 percent from the field (142-of-329), 28.0 percent from three-point range (21-of-75) and 69.6 percent from the free-throw line (80-of-115).

AU’s women finished the season 9-16 overall and 6-12 in the NAC.
