Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer awards announced
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the awards for the 2009 women's soccer season, as voted on by the conference's head coaches. Included are 14-member First and Second All-NAC Teams, honorable mention selections, a 14-member All-Freshman Team, a 12-member All-Sportsmanship Team and the four individual awards of Defensive Player, Offensive Player, Freshman and Coach of the Year.

NAC regular season and tournament champion Aurora University (16-5, 10-1 NAC) garnered three of the four individual awards. Cait Hartman was selected as Defensive Player of the Year, Haley Pschirrer as Offensive Player of the Year, and Britney Schenck as Freshman of the Year.

Dominican University's Jeff Halsema was voted NAC Coach of the Year by his peers. The Stars (10-9, 9-2 NAC) finished second in the standings and lost in the NAC tournament final in double-overtime to preseason favorites Aurora.

Hartman (Parker, Colo. /Ponderosa), a junior defender, led the Spartan defense to a conference best 10 shutouts and 0.90 goals allowed per game.

Pschirrer, a sophomore forward from Peoria, Ill., (Notre Dame H.S.), scored a conference-high 21 goals in as many games for the Spartans this season.

Schenck, a rookie defender from St. Charles, Mo., (Orchard Farm H.S.), aided the Spartans on both ends of the field and has 18 points (4 goals, 10 assists) starting in all 21 games this season.

Aurora will continue play at the 2009 NCAA III Women's Soccer Championship at the University of Chicago this Friday, Nov. 13.
