Neils steps down as Edgewood
College women’s basketball coach
MADISON, Wis. -- Tola Neils has announced her
resignation as Edgewood College’s head women’s basketball coach,
effective immediately. Neils compiled a 51-30 record in three
seasons at the helm, including a 40-14 record in the Northern
Athletics Conference.
“We would like to thank Coach Neils for her service to Edgewood
College,” said Athletic Director Al Brisack. “She continued the
tradition of successful women’s basketball teams at Edgewood College
and we wish her the best of luck on the next step in her career
path.”
Last season, the Eagles won 19 of their final 22 games and finished
19-7 for a .731 winning percentage, the highest in school history.
Neils led the Eagles to the NAC Tournament championship game in
2008, falling on the road to Wisconsin Lutheran College in the
final. Her 51 wins rank her third all-time among Edgewood College
women’s basketball coaches behind Rick Olson (66 wins, 1994-99) and
Jim Krystofiak (52 wins, 1990-94).
Edgewood College will begin the search process for a new head coach
immediately. The position is listed at www.edgewood.edu/employment
and applications are currently being accepted.
The 2009 Edgewood College Girls’ Basketball camps and the Girls’
High School Basketball leagues will proceed as scheduled.
