CUC's Walker joins Schaumburg Flyers
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Jack Walker (Naperville, Ill. – Naperville North H.S.), four-year starter for the Concordia University Chicago baseball team, has signed a rookie contract with the Schaumburg Flyers of the independent Northern League. Walker will be in uniform beginning tonight for the Flyers’ weekend road series against the Kansas City T-Bones.

Walker, shortstop for the 2009 Cougar team that went 33-15 and made an appearance in the NCAA III Mideast Regional, was named a first-team All-Midwest Region player by the American Baseball Coaches Association earlier this week. He batted .360 (59-164) in 46 games this year, scoring 58 runs along with 13 homers and 46 RBIs. Walker was a career .352 hitter, fourth on Concordia’s all-time list, and the team’s career leader in five categories including games played (176), hits (235) and runs scored (211).

“We are very excited for Jack getting this opportunity,” said Concordia head coach Spiro Lempesis. “This is a great chance for him to continue his development in baseball with a fine organization in the Schaumburg Flyers, and we are wishing him the very best.”
