CUC's Isaac snares National Gold Glove honor
RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Brandon Isaac (Matteson, Ill. – Marian Catholic H.S.), a junior on Concordia University Chicago’s baseball team, has been named the winner of the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings NCAA Division III Gold Glove Award at first base. The national honor is the first for any member of Concordia Chicago’s baseball program.

Isaac, a three-year starter for the Cougars, enjoyed a stellar year for the team. He fielded a total of 312 chances in 2009 while recording 290 put-outs, 21 assists and just one error for a .997 fielding percentage. Isaac also anchored the infield defense by taking part in 27 double plays.

“It’s great to see Brandon get national recognition for his effort and hard work,” said Concordia head coach Spiro Lempesis. “While Brandon is a solid hitter, his defense has been stellar from day one of his freshman season, and we are happy to see him among the best defensive players in the country.”
