CUW's Solveson wins NCAA Championship
MARIETTA, Ohio -- Concordia University Wisconsin junior Brock Solveson won the javelin throw in the first day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Marietta College on Thursday.

Solveson (Oconomowoc, Wis.), who tied for the longest throw at the 2008 event only to lose on a second-best throw tiebreaker, won this year’s javelin with a mark of 208-5, also a Don Drumm Stadium Record.

This marks the first NCAA championship won by an individual or team of the Northern Athletics Conference since its inception in fall of 2006.

Solveson, the 2009 NAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet, also began competition in the men's decathlon on Thursday, and has five events left to complete on Friday.

Falcon teammate Micah Lorenzen (Pipestone, Minn.) placed eighth in the 10,000-meter run Thursday evening to earn All-American status. Lorenzen will compete in the 5,000-meter run on Saturday afternoon.
