Athletics Conference announces winners of All-Sports and
Sportsmanship awards In a vote by the conference's directors of athletics, Wisconsin Lutheran College was named the winner of the Men's Sportsmanship Award and Maranatha Baptist Bible College was named the winner of the Women's Sportsmanship Award. This is the second-consecutive year that Maranatha has won the women's award while marking WLC's first. The 2008-09 Men's All-Sports Award went to Aurora University for the third straight year. The Spartan men finished in the top three of the standings in five-of-nine sports, which included a NAC championship in football, and a NAC tournament title in basketball. AU finished with a 23.00 index, 1.22 greater than runner-up Concordia University Wisconsin. MSOE finished third in the men's standings with a 21.00 index. The Women's All-Sports Award for 2008-09 was won by Concordia Wisconsin. The Falcon women finished a slim 0.92 index points ahead of runner-up Aurora. CUW captured championships in indoor track & field and outdoor track & field and won both the basketball and softball tournament titles. Benedictine University finished third with a 22.75 index. The All-Sports Awards are based on both the final conference standings of the regular season or championship, and the conference tournament finishes in the sports that offer postseason tournaments (baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball).
