Blahnik and Snyder head up 2009 NAC Softball Awards The awards, selected by the softball coaches of the NAC, include a 15-member First Team All-NAC, a 10-member All-NAC Second Team, honorable mention selections, a 10 member All-Freshman team, a 13-member All-Sportsmanship team and the four major awards of Player, Pitcher, Freshman and Coach of the Year. Lakeland College's KC Blahnik (Gladstone, Mich.) heads up the First Team All-NAC, and was named NAC Player of the Year. The junior second baseman was the conference batting leader finishing the season with a .524 average at the plate. Blahnik also led the league in hits (66), runs scored (63), home runs (11), and walks (25) while sporting a .605 on base percentage which is also tops in the NAC. Her .905 slugging percentage was second best in the conference. Blahnik committed only three errors in the field this season, for a .983 fielding percentage. The Muskies finished the season with a 30-10 overall record and were 21-3 in conference play, just one game back of NAC Champion Aurora University (31-7, 22-2). Aurora's Anna Snyder (Grayslake, Ill.) was named NAC Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season. Snyder, who is also a First Team All-NAC, led the conference in pitching with a 1.18 ERA and 22 victories. The junior right-hander's 10.9 strikeouts per game also leads the league and is currently second in the nation. Benedictine University's Brittany Adcox (Plainfield, Ill.) was named NAC Freshman of the Year. The right-handed pitcher was also a First Team All-NAC and All-Freshman Team selection. Adcox was second in the conference with a 1.85 ERA and also tallied a 18-7 record in her rookie season. Benedictine finished third in the NAC with a 20-4 record (31-12 overall). Cristina Lukas was named NAC Coach of the Year, as selected by her peers. Lukas's Dominican University Stars (30-14, 16-8) more than doubled their season wins total with 30 this season, and jumped from a 10th place conference finish in 2008 to fourth place finish this season.
