Northern Athletics Conference changes domain name to NorthernAC.org The change from the previous NorthernAthleticsConf.com will significantly reduce the length of the domain name from 21 characters to 10 (not including the .com/.org extension), making direct navigation to the organization's website easier for visitors. Additionally the change from a .com to .org extension signifies the Northern Athletics Conference's identity as a non-profit organization. Traditionally the .com extension is used by companies and businesses, while the .org extension is mostly associated with non-profit organizations. Both domain names will remain active until the end of the year for both the website and email addresses. The website will be viewable on the new NorthernAC.org address and the former web address in parallel. In addition, any email sent to the Northern Athletics Conference office staff will be received by the new email addresses at NorthernAC.org. This marks the second time in the last few months the conference's office staff has made a significant change. The last coming during the transition from winter to spring sports, as the conference commissioner's office moved from the Madison area in Verona, Wis. to the greater-Milwaukee area in Waukesha, Wis. The move makes the commissioner's office more centrally located to the 13 member institutions. The Northern Athletics Conference consists of 13 colleges and universities from the shared-border states of Illinois and Wisconsin making it the third largest conference in NCAA Division III.
